Esta semana, Perú ha vuelto a tener los mismos indicadores que tenía en el peor momento de la primera ola del coronavirus. La estrategia de comunicación del Gobierno, desde que comenzó la pandemia, ha sido un fracaso. Contrario a lo que se espera en un momento de emergencia (directrices concisas y clara para que el grueso de la población pueda entender), tanto el gobierno de Vizcarra como el de Sagasti se han complicado en mensajes equívocos, poco claros y hasta contradictorios que han llevado a la población no solamente a no entender lo que quieren decir, sino considerar a las medidas del gobierno como poco serias.

Basta con repetir la última conferencia de prensa de dos horas del presidente Sagasti para preguntarse qué es lo que quiso decir, cuando bien pudo expresar claramente que estamos en la llamada «segunda ola». En lo que va de la pandemia, han abundado las conferencias de prensa y se ha vuelto escasa la síntesis, capacidad que los peruanos hubiésemos agradecido en lugar de ver al presidente interdiario en la hora de almuerzo. Y lo más triste es que ha sido mucho bla, bla, bla y poca acción, puesto que, como se sabe y como hemos denunciado reiteradamente en este medio, Perú ha tenido el peor manejo de la epidemia del coronavirus en el mundo.
Y no solo eso: el Gobierno ha gastado millones de soles en pagos a los medios de comunicación por concepto de publicidad estatal, y, a pesar de ello, no ha sido capaz de armar una estrategia integral de comunicación que permita salvar vidas. ¿Acaso todos los peruanos saben cómo usar correctamente las mascarillas? ¿Acaso todos saben cómo desinfectar la comida correctamente? ¿Acaso todos saben a qué número llamar para reportar si tienen la enfermedad? ¿Acaso todos saben la necesidad que tenemos de que comencemos vacunarnos?
Si el acceso a la información ha sido distorsionado en las principales ciudades, ya podemos imaginar que la situación rural es aún más precaria. La única campaña más o menos recordable del Gobierno es una donde se criminaliza a la población, en lugar de centrarse en educar a los ciudadanos para comprender el virus. Habiendo gastado millones en medios de comunicación ¿Por qué no se hizo bien?
Ahora el gobierno tiene el reto de vacunar a la población, pese a que el 43% de los peruanos, según una última encuesta, está en contra de la vacuna por considerarla dañina. Esta es una cifra alarmante, tomando en cuenta que debemos bajar la carga viral de nuestra población. Sumemos a esto las personas que creen que esta pandemia es un invento, o los que piensan que nos inyectarán chips a través de la vacuna o nos cambiarán el ARN, o los que creen que existe una élite oscura que intenta dominarnos, entre otros.
Esta semana, posiblemente, se acaben las camas UCI. Mucha gente más puede morir si es que el Gobierno no es capaz de generar una estrategia de comunicación que sea capaz de trasmitir tres o cuatro ideas de forma clara. Lo que haga el equipo de Sagasti y el Partido Morado en estas semanas será clave para poder frenar esta segunda ola que, por lo que muestra la curva, será más agresiva que la primera. Pero no logrará nada si es que repite los mismos discursos que tuvimos el año pasado.
