El pasado lunes 05 de julio se dio a conocer la noticia del sensible fallecimiento de Rafaella Carrá a los 78 años.
La niña de Bellaria-Igea Marina que se convirtió en actriz
Rafaella Carrà, cuyo nombre real fue Raffaella Maria Roberta Pelloni, nació en Bolonia en 1943 en un hogar de clase media. Belaria-Igea Marina, el pueblo donde vivió fue es un cálido balneario con edificios domésticos y hoteles que lanzan su mirada al azul del Mar Adriático. A los ocho años dejó su pueblo natal para tomar clases en la Academia Nacional de Danzas en Roma. Ahí, a los nueve años, tuvo la oportunidad de participar en un papel secundario en la película Tormento del passato. Estudió cinematografía en el Centro Experimental de Cinematografía de Roma.
Posteriormente debutó como actriz en 1960 en las películas La lunga notte del 1943 y I compagni bajo la dirección de Mario Monicelli, considerado como uno de los maestros de la comedia italiana. También trabajó en la película francesa La chance et l’amour de Michel Piccoli, un reconocido director de cine francés. Después de eso dio el gran salto a Hollywood con un contrato con la 20th Century Fox.
Por aquel entonces estaban de moda las actrices italianas en el cine norteamericano por su particular belleza y carisma. Hollywood era el reino de Sofía Loren, Gina Lollobrigida y Virna Lisi. Pelloni, que todavía no cambiaba de apellido, hizo su gran debut en la película El coronel Von Ryan donde hizo amistad con Frank Sinatra, Edward Mulhare y Trevor Howard. Sin embargo, a pesar de que su carrera como actriz parecía despegar y tenía contratos por venir, la vida en Los Ángeles no le terminó por gustar y decidió regresar a Italia en donde firmó un contrato para trabajar en el programa Nino Ferrer, con la condición de disponer de tres minutos propios en la emisión del mismo. Fue allí donde nació su leyenda.
Tre minuti di fama
A mediados de la década de los 60s el director Dante Guardamagna le dio el seudónimo de “Carrà”, porque asociaba su nombre con el pintor Rafaello Sanzio, uno de los exponentes del Renacimiento y pintor Carlo Carrà, uno de los líderes del movimiento futurista. Fue en 1970 cuando Rafaella Carrà empezó a ser reconocida como una show woman. Tras su éxito en Nino Ferrer la Radiotelevisiones Italiana- Rai la contrató para hacer un show nocturno los días sábados llamado Canzonissima, el mismo que tuvo varias ediciones posteriores.
El escándalo y la fama se apoderó del set al ser la primera mujer en mostrar el ombligo en la televisión abierta italiana y cuando el Papa Pablo VI censuró su tema Tuca tuca, canción en cuyo video aparecía Rafaella tocando diversas partes del cuerpo de un hombre, motivo por el cual llamó más la atención y sus canciones empezaron a sonar por la radio. A partir de entonces la televisión italiana nunca más volvió a ser la misma, fue la primera mujer italiana en tener contratos millonarios como los hombres.
Pero Italia no le era suficiente, la Carrà tenía fuego en su espíritu. En 1975 apareció en el programa de Televisión Española-TVE ¡Señoras y señores!, ganando gran notoriedad en el país de la eñe. Cuando llegó apenas sabía hablar español, pero con el tiempo fue ganando confianza. La cantante lanzó un álbum recopilatorio de versiones de sus canciones en español. El álbum fue un éxito y los directivos de TVE le ofrecieron hacer un programa en primetime llamado La hora de Rafaella Carrá.
Carrà, conquistadora de América
Si bien Rafella había renunciado a Hollywood, ambicionó conquistar Hispanoamérica, un mercado que era aún tradicional. A partir del año 78 empezó a realizar giras por América Latina. Asistió al programa chileno Sábado gigante y realizó muchos conciertos en estadios y teatros, los mismos que fueron copados por un público que no estaba acostumbrado a ese tipo de show. Llegó a Perú en el año 79 para una trasmisión de Panamericana Televisión y también para realizar conciertos en teatros.
La cantante italiana regresó a su país de la mano de RAI, para un programa titulado Millemilioni compuesto por 5 especiales, coproducido con televisoras de Italia, la Unión Sovértica, Reino Unido y Argentina. Cada especial se filmó en la capital de cada uno de los países participantes, en ese momento Rafaella Carrà ya era considerada un ícono pop de Italia y Hispanoamérica.
Regresa nuevamente a Perú en el año 83 para una presentación en el Coliseo Amauta en el Cercado de Lima, donde obtuvo un recibimiento apoteósico, el mismo que fue grabado por Panamericana Televisión. En el 88 Finivest, uno de los grupos económicos más grandes de Italia, financia Rafaella Carrà Show, un programa con alto nivel de producción e invitados importantes, teniendo además una versión especial para Televisió de Catalunya.
Con su álbum Invitato Especiale conquistó el ranking de los discos más vendidos, éxitos como Ballando Soca Dance, una canción que sonó en todas las discotecas de Italia y del mundo.
Rafella, el ícono
Raffaella Carrà no solo se volvió un ícono pop de Europa sino también una imagen representativa de la comunidad LGTB+, dio su apoyo abierto a la comunidad y ha manifestado en diversas entrevistas que el amor no debería tener límites. Sus temas siguen siento tocados en casi todos los bares gays del mediterráneo. Así lo ha manifestado la diseñadora Teresa Helbig para TVE: «Las generaciones de hoy tenemos que dar gracias a que hubo mujeres como Raffaella, mujeres empoderadas, valientes, libres y auténticas que prendieron la llama de la revolución y optaron por romper barreras y quemar tabúes. En una época en la que no todo era fácil, Raffaella aportó sueño y evasión, y nos enseñó, a través de clásicos como «Hay que venir al Sur» «En el amor todo es empezar» o «Fiesta» el significado de la palabra liberación; libertad de elegir, de quivocarse, de querer, a quien fuese y de la forma que fuese».
España, su segunda casa
A inicios del 2000 Carrà regresa a España y continuó haciendo apariciones en la televisión de países hispanohablantes. Participó en especiales musicales como Viña del mar, Canal 13, TVN de Chile, así como diversos programas en TVE, como ¡Hola, Raffaella! y la telemaratón Contigo con el objetivo de apadrinar niños en situación de abandono. La cantante italiana manifestó en distintas entrevistas que ella sentía a España como si fuera su propia casa y que se encontraba agradecida con el pueblo español por haberle abierto las puertas de par en par.
Carrà deja una discografía con más de 30 álbumes, un legado de más de 35 programas de televisión en Italia, España y Argentina y una participación en 12 películas y apariciones en 5 series de televisión.
