El presidente Francisco Sagasti se dirigió a la nación y mencionó las primeras acciones tomadas durante su primer mes a cargo del país. Junto al gabinete de ministros también clarificó importantes dudas sobre las restricciones que se tomarán durante las fiestas de fin de año pero sobre todo hizo hincapié sobre el proceso de vacunación a nivel nacional que se daría en el 2021, una preocupación para todos los ciudadanos que esperan el fin de la enfermedad.
Según el gobierno del presidente, la vacunación es una prioridad y confirmó que este proceso sería transparente, sin medias tintas, con un trabajo articulado que alcance la cobertura todos los peruanos y peruanas.
A pesar de la rapidez con la que se han creado las vacunas en diferentes partes del mundo es necesario considerar que nos encontramos frente a un escenario complejo. No es sencillo vacunar a tantas personas, en un corto periodo de tiempo y la logística para asegurar el proceso no se daría tan rápido como se piensa.
Adicional a ello, a la fecha y con el gobierno del expresidente Martín Vizcarra, la población cayó en cuenta que existen vacíos en la información que se ha compartido en sus potenciales compras. Una desconfianza que ha empezado a notarse a raíz de la última conferencia del presidente Sagasti.
Debemos entender que no solo se trata de adquirir la vacuna. También es necesario implementar un sistema efectivo que alcance a toda la población de manera oportuna y segura. Consideramos que, sin discusión alguna, el personal de primera línea en combate de la pandemia, como profesionales de la salud, deben tener la primera prioridad. Como segundo grupo prioritario son quienes tienen mayor riesgo de letalidad frente al COVID-19, es decir, las personas mayores de 65 años y personas con enfermedades crónicas.
Sin embargo para que ello se de es necesario una estrategia que al parecer el gobierno actual no tiene muy clara. Creemos también que el Estado se excedió en las precauciones sobre qué tipo de vacuna adquirir lo que origina un retraso en su compra. A comparación de otros países de Latinoamérica que ya han asegurado la adquisición, nuestro país comete el pecado, y el atrevimiento, de tener un panorama incierto
Las vacunas son sin duda uno de los grandes retos que tiene el mundo a la fecha pues cada día la enfermedad cobra más vidas en el mundo. Además, esta resulta una necesidad más que prioritaria pues el rebrote de contagios en nuestro país parece inminente.
Nos parece también importante generar una confianza para que las personas decidan vacunarse. Esto solo se lograría por un adecuado manejo de la información que se comparta, de los datos disponibles en la adquisición de la vacuna y de los procesos de compra con los laboratorios en que será adquirida. La competencia de precios también será decisiva como parte de las acciones que el gobierno de Sagasti deberá considerar y compartir con los ciudadanos.
Es una logística sin precedentes de coordinación evaluación, hacer ajustes en el programa de vacunación.
Pero no todo depende de la vacuna. En realidad depende del gobierno actual y su efectividad, sin dejar de lado los caos políticos que suelen retrasar, como un regalo mensual, para que la pandemia no continúe en su avance sigiloso y mortal.
